Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints
G-RANK Week 1: TE7
It's really not a ridiculous idea to start Juwan Johnson Week 1. You probably completely forgot about him this offseason until Jordyn Tyson got hurt, but he finished as the TE8 last year on 102 targets in full PPR, his best season yet. I don't see anyone other than Chris Olave threatening Johnson for targets in Week 1, and the matchup against the Lions' secondary is juicy. I don't want to call him a lock, but if you're streaming the TE position, he's a pretty darn good bet in my eyes.
Isaiah Likely, New York Giants
G-RANK Week 1: TE8
Offseason chatter depicted Isaiah Likely as one of Jaxson Dart's favorite targets. And while it looks likely that Malik Nabers suits up for Week 1, there really isn't much pass-catching depth on this team elsewhere: I expect Malachi Fields to get decent volume for a rookie, but Likely could otherwise be the de facto WR2. Mix in a favorable matchup against Dallas, and this feels like safe TE1 option to kick off your season.
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
G-RANK Week 1: TE13
While I technically have him ranked as a TE2 this week, I'm willing to admit I may be completely wrong about Dallas Goedert. There really isn't that much early pass-catching competition to worry about in Philadelphia: DeVonta Smith will get a bunch of work, but then it's rookie Makai Lemon and Packers transplant Dontayvion Wicks. Would I be surprised to look up after Week 1 and see Goedert had 11 targets? Probably not. I do want to see how this new offense splits rush and pass work before I declare myself fully in on him this year though.
